Who does it support?
- Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) people who live in Leeds
- People with mental health needs
- People who care for those with mental ill health
- People at risk of developing mental ill health
What does The Support Centre do?
- Has a person-centred approach
- Enables people to have a better quality of life in the community
- Enables individuals to access other services that aid recovery
- Increases individuals’ levels of independence and confidence
- Holistic approach to addressing needs – health and well-being, social, cultural, educational, spiritual, housing and employment
- Jointly works with other agencies
How is this achieved?
- One to one support for those with greater needs who have a history of poor take up of services
- Activities – such as complementary and creative therapies, exercise, day trips, walking, social events, separate men’s and women’s group, art group
- Information provision
- Drop-in
- Staff are from similar backgrounds to the people we support
- Staff fluent in community languages
- Chinese Satellite Project
- Carers Support Project
