Every three months, each CDW provides a report on what thay have been doing in each of these communities, and what they plan on doing next. The last reports were delivered in July 2010, describing the work completed between the beginning of April 2010 and the end of June 2010.

Progress/Achievement

  • IAPT – continued support of Project, including promoting launch event (very positive attendance).
  • Cemented partnership of Touchstone Volunteers Project through monitoring of placement within CDW team.
  • Support of EPIC event in Sheffield.
  • Co-ordinate partnership work with local community music arts group and Alzheimer’s Society for event in September 2010.
  • Continue ‘shadowing’ with ward staff.
  • MH Champion work follow-up telephone interview to finalize ‘end of project’ report.
  • Continue input into BME Advisory Group.
  • Cemented partnership with NHS Leeds through ‘placement’ working.

Difficulties Encountered

  • Goalposts changing regarding promotion of IAPT project.
  • No concrete processes or procedures in place for arranging placements with Volunteers Project.
  • Availability between ward staff & CDW not always equating.

Lessons Learned

  • Be able to adapt with changing arrangements.
  • Need to meet with coordinator/ managers of projects in the 1st instance to appropriately plan management of work & placements, prior to agreement to facilitate.
  • Produce partnership agreement beforehand at all times.

Tips for sharing

  • Ensure comprehensive Risk Assessments & Partnership agreements in place.
  • Ensure timetables agreed from sides of partnership.

Priorities for the next quarter

  • To continue to develop work with IAPT.
  • To produce guidelines for all placements.
  • To further contribute to development of work within wards.
  • To support East Leeds Health For All with promotion of Lincoln Green Day (community day activities).
  • To support Arts & Minds @Time for Change project at community events such as Hyde Park Community Day and Leeds Reggae Concert.
  • Re-establish links with BME Consultation Group at Leeds Crisis Centre.
