Every three months, each CDW provides a report on what they have been doing in each of these communities, and what they plan on doing next. The last reports were delivered in July 2010, describing the work completed between the beginning of April and the end of June 2010.
Progress/Achievement
- In Patient Setting Action Plan completed and delivered to Team managers from Becklin Centre and Newsam Centre
- St Patrick's Day 2010 - Co- facilitation of mental wellbeing stall in Millennium Square.
- Leeds City College - Planning/Co facilitation of MH awareness, 2nd phase train the trainer to students.
- Spirituality, faith and wellbeing forum from Sikh Perspective at The Beeston Gurdwara.
- Volunteer program, shadowing, presentations re community development and service user involvement.
- Zest Partnership delivery of food & mood/cooking on budget to services users at Newsam and Becklin Centre.
- Role modelling Community Development approach to LCCA members and service users.
- Delivery and promotion of Touchstone services with service user consultant in Leeds Prevent Programme.
- Talking health programme delivered to Little London Children's Centre.
- Attended BMEAG aim of increasing service user involvement.
- Delivery Race, Culture and Ethnicity training Touchstone in House.
- Introduction to children's services in Richmond Hill to Chinese Community.
- Introduction to community resources for Chinese Community.
- Assisting with Irish intergenerational & cultural day.
Service Development
- Partnership City and Holbeck Children’s Centre planning/participation with Wah, Wah le Yuan Group to deliver joint community cultural day.
- Developing links with Service User & Volunteers with News 4 U, SU Champions.
- Support volunteers programme.
- Capacity build Touchstone service users, participation in training, staying safe, chairing and minuting meetings, QSC/QSF and Compliments & complaints panel.
- Extra role as a service user involvement lead/ SUIP Champion.
- Planning and delivery of SUIP away day.
- Assisting Specialist Midwife to use Pacesetters framework (community activists to deliver information in mother tongue to Chinese community) in relation to increasing earlier access to maternity services.
Lessons learned
- Developing an inclusive participatory process requires a range of different approaches in order to suit different needs.
- A good piece of work never ends, it evolves
Priorities for Next Quarter
- YHCDN Research Project on quality assuring Community empowerment experience.
- Completion of language key-rings for ward 4/ discharge service mapping.
- Monitoring and evaluation of the Zest partnership and LPFT.
- Recovery and social inclusion - design service users involvement information page with IMH
- Completion of work with Advocacy Support to assess the economic impact and regeneration in city economies (Financial inclusion initiatives).
- Assisting service partner to complete Community activist training to Chinese community in Beeston.
- Delivery of Race, Culture and Ethnicity training to LPFT
- Planning and delivery workshop with all Clinical Team Managers (CTM) &ward staff
